Gambling Online to be Legalized by Italian Government 5 Oct 2006 During the month of February, the Italian government tried to ban IP addressed of gambling sites online. Following this attempt, the government tried to get a bit of the revenue in the gambling industry by setting up a working relationship with an online casinos poker room. Now, it seems that the country's officials have decided to legalize and regulate gambling online. This new step will take place on January 1st, 2007. Bingo parlors and public sports betting gambling sites will also be legalized and regulated in the country. One of the main reasons this gambling became legal is due to the fact that the Italian government will take 3 percent on all revenues collected by companies from Italian gambling customers. The interesting thing to see is how the US will react to the legalization of online gambling in Italy. As it stands, it appears that their attempt to ban the gambling industry online from Americans will be rejected. Therefore, it may be possible that the US will take the route of other countries such as Italy, and try to regulate the gambling online instead of eliminating it. This would definitely making online casinos fans in the US very happy, and would help them join the Italians and the British, who have long ago legalized and regulated online casinos and gambling on the Internet for their citizens. Anything is possible and only time will tell how the gambling issue will finally be resolved in the US. | |||||||||||||||
