AOL Prepares to Launch Gambling Site
12 Jun 2006

One of the internet's oldest and most well known service providers is preparing to launch its own online gambling site. In a recent press statement, AOL announced its plans to join the online gambling industry by establishing its own site that specializes in blackjack. The site will act as a gambling portal giving fans access to a range of blackjack resources and will be designed by Game Show Network.

The new gambling site is also expected to feature free blackjack games, tips and advice from the professionals and ongoing information and coverage on the World Series of Blackjack taking place this summer. AOL's general manager, Ralph Riveral, has commented that online gambling products such as poker and blackjack have increased in popularity amongst AOL's mainstream audience. While the company's partnership with Harrah's Entertainment is well known for its creation of the World Series of Poker website, AOL is also eager to becoming involved with other gambling products, and is already working on a new project designed to incorporate online and interactive TV games.

AOL is just one of many internet firms and traditional gambling firms moving into the online gambling industry. Several British media companies have recently purchased significant shareholdings in online casino firms in an attempt to solidify their interests.
